- Carcross Desert — the smallest desert in the world
- Emerald Lake and Bove Island viewpoints
- Family-style BBQ lunch included (vegetarian option available)
- Access to the petting farm, wildlife gallery, and puppies at Wild Adventure Yukon
- Remote beach stop at Tagish Lake
- 75 miles of scenery each direction — the most photo stops of any Skagway Tours route
From Skagway’s little boomtown waterfront, this tour follows the full arc of the Klondike story — from ancient trading trail to modern highway. For thousands of years before the Gold Rush, Tlingit traders crossed the Chilkoot Pass, moving goods between coastal villages and the interior along routes that feel impossibly rugged even from the bus today.
When stampeders arrived, they followed those same paths toward Bennett Lake and Carcross, launching out onto the headwaters of the Yukon River on their way to Dawson City. As you travel farther than any of our other tours — to Carcross Desert, Emerald Lake, Tagish Lake, and a once-busy mine site — your guide connects those Indigenous trails, the arrival of the White Pass & Yukon Route railroad, and even the WWII supply runs for the Alcan. By the time you roll back toward the ship, you’ve traced the whole route between Yukon and sea in one memorable day.
